Topical Steroid Withdrawal (TSW)
How it might feel
TSW can be an incredibly distressing and isolating experience. You may be dealing with burning, flaking, itching or weeping skin, intense redness, swelling, and unpredictable flare-ups. It might affect your sleep, relationships, work, and sense of identity. You may feel constantly hyper-aware of how you look or whether people are staring.

On top of the physical symptoms, the emotional toll can be heavy: feeling exhausted, irritable, overwhelmed, and unsure if things will ever get better. You might feel angry about the impact steroids have had, disbelieved by professionals, or dismissed when seeking help. This experience can shake your trust in your body and in the medical system.

How we’ll work together
Support for TSW is grounded in validation, collaboration, and emotional regulation. I’ll offer a safe, understanding space to help you make sense of what you’ve been through, manage anxiety and overwhelm, and support your coping as your body heals.

We might look at ways to manage distressing thoughts (like “This will never end”), build tolerance for uncertainty, reduce shame and self-criticism, and reconnect with your values and identity beyond your skin. Together, we’ll work on building resilience, supporting boundaries with others, and restoring a sense of agency over your healing journey.
