Depression or Low Mood

How it might feel

You might be feeling flat, low, or disconnected, like you’re going through the motions but not really present. It might be hard to find joy in the things you used to enjoy, or to feel hopeful about anything changing.

You may be waking up exhausted no matter how much you sleep, struggling to concentrate, or finding everyday tasks take enormous effort. Thoughts like “What’s the point?”, “I’ve failed”, or “I just can’t be bothered anymore” might be playing on repeat.

Sometimes depression shows up as numbness rather than sadness, like you’ve switched off from yourself and the world around you. You might feel guilty for not being more grateful, or wonder why you're not coping when others seem to manage.

How we’ll work together

Therapy starts with understanding your experience — how depression is showing up in your life, what’s keeping you stuck, and what might be driving those feelings beneath the surface. We’ll look at the patterns in your thoughts, behaviours, and relationships that may be reinforcing the low mood.

You’ll learn practical tools to reconnect with meaningful activities, even when your motivation feels low. You’ll also discover ways to shift unhelpful thinking patterns, such as hopelessness, self-criticism, or catastrophising. Together, we’ll focus on building your emotional resilience so you can manage feelings of overwhelm more effectively. Finally, we’ll explore and work through deeper beliefs that may have developed over time, like “I’m not good enough” or “I don’t matter.”
