Stress

How it might feel

You might be feeling overwhelmed, tense, and constantly switched on, like there’s no off button in your brain. Small tasks feel unmanageable, your patience is thin, and it’s hard to relax even when you have the chance. You might be waking up already exhausted, struggling with sleep, or feeling physically run down.

Maybe you’re snapping at people you care about, withdrawing from things you used to enjoy, or feeling like you're failing no matter how hard you try. You might be pushing through each day but feel like you're one step from everything falling apart.

Sometimes burnout feels like numbness or detachment, almost like you’ve lost your spark or sense of self, and are just going through the motions. You might even feel guilty for struggling, especially if you’re used to being the one who copes.

How we’ll work together

We’ll begin by understanding the pressures you’re under, both the external demands and the internal expectations you may have placed on yourself. We’ll map out how stress is affecting your thoughts, emotions, behaviour and body, and explore what might be keeping you stuck in a cycle of overdoing, perfectionism or emotional suppression.

You’ll learn practical tools to regulate your stress response, calm your nervous system, and identify unhelpful thinking patterns—like catastrophising, people-pleasing or all-or-nothing thinking. Together, we’ll explore how to set realistic boundaries without guilt and reconnect with your values, needs and identity beyond productivity. This is a space to slow down, reflect, and start to reclaim your energy, focus and clarity. Therapy can support you to shift from surviving to something more sustainable.
